Position Overview:

The candidate will become part of an experienced technical team creating software products to advance the capabilities and effectiveness of the logistics engineering industry. Projects include warehouse management applications, material flow modeling tools, wireless communications infrastructure, advanced application interface tools, and an assortment of internal R&D projects. The development teams have considerable autonomy and responsibility for applying a broad range of technology in their solutions.

The candidate will be responsible for a full range of Windows client and/or server side Web-based application software development work requiring the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and minimum of three years experience developing database applications within a client/server environment. Desirable skills include: PowerBuilder, PowerJ, HTML (including HTML development tools), logistics applications, database administration, and software testing techniques. Analytical ability, creativity, good judgment, and independent decision making are required to define and implement robust solutions in the context of complex business/technical situations, often with short lead times. The candidate will be responsible for the planning and quality execution of his/her own work in a loosely structured environment.

Responsibilities Breakdown:

  1. Application System Design and Implementation (85%) – The candidate will participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of application components at both the logical and functional levels. This includes technology selection, software development, release control, testing, documentation and installation activities. In addition to the technical contribution, the candidate will be expected to develop a good working knowledge of the business problem to be solved as part of the solution development.
  2. Customer Support (15%) – The candidate will acquire first-hand exposure to the fruits of his/her software development labor through direct interaction with customers of Global Concepts' products. Customer management, application integration with varied business platforms, and requirements definition skills will be developed through these activities. Limited travel will be required during customer engagements.

Compensation and Benefits:

As a Global Concepts employee, the candidate will receive an annual salary plus a team bonus based on Corporate profitability.
